The Institute is guided by a clear vision to become the leading
institution for training and capacity development in trauma care and
management; substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery; targeted mental
health education; stress management; and related behavioural and social
development fields. Considerable emphasis is placed on tailored behvioural and mental
health trainings for specific groups such as religious leaders, traditional
leaders, educators, and community-based practitioners, recognizing their
critical role in promoting wellbeing at the grassroots level.
The Trauma Training Programme is structured into a progressive
learning pathway comprising Trauma Course 1, Trauma Course 2, Trauma Course 3,
and an Advanced Trauma Course. These courses provide a comprehensive
understanding of trauma, its psychological and social impacts, and evidence‑based
approaches to trauma‑informed care and management. Participants who
successfully complete the full programme and achieve the required pass mark in
the final assessment are awarded a Certificate of Completion, signifying competence
in trauma care and intervention.
The Substance Use and Addiction Programme offers a suite of
courses built on globally recognized curricula designed for addiction
professionals, service providers, and policy makers. These courses address
substance use prevention (UPC), treatment (UTC), recovery (URC), and policy
development, ensuring alignment with international standards.
In addition, the Institute provides Targeted Behavioural and Mental
Health Training structured into Volume A through Volume D, each covering
key aspects of mental health in a clear and accessible manner. This modular
design supports easy understanding, practical application of knowledge, and
effective integration of mental health principles into professional practice
and community engagement.
